Katsina: Nigeria Customs returns seized food items to owners

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has commenced the return of various food items seized from traders in border communities in Katsina State.

This is in line with the presidential directive that the NCS return all food items seized in border communities on condition that they are sold in the country.

The Katsina Command’s Comptroller, Mohammed Umar, said over six trucks of assorted grains seized along the Kwangwalam-Mai’adua axis had been returned to the owners.

“The CGC, during his official working visit to Katsina, handed over the presidential directive mandating the return of impounded food items to owners on condition that they are sold in Nigerian markets,” he said.

However, the Chief of Staff to Governor Radda, Hon. Jabiru Tsauri, who is also the Chairman of the Task Force Committee set up by the governor to address the rising cost of food items and tackle hoarding, said the released food items would only be sold to Katsina State residents.
