Bandits kill villager, kidnap 7 women in Kaduna

Bandits operating around villages in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State have attacked Banono settlement under Angwaku community in Kufana Chiefdom where one person was shot dead and eight other people abducted.

The deceased has been identified as Christopher Zamani. Another woman also sustained injuries during the attack.

Daily Trust identified the abducted victims as Tina Bulus, Alice Joshua, Sarah Micah, Kaduna Fidelis (male), Janet Amos, Martha Peter, Rita Geoffrey and Favour Ado.

Mary Isah, who sustained injuries, was taken to Nasara Maternity Clinic in Maraban Kajuru for medical attention.

Mr Stephen Makori, the Kufana District Superintendent, confirmed the incident in a statement. He said the bandits raided many residential houses and looted valuable properties, stole money, looted food items and made away with two motorcycles.

In another development, about 24 of the abducted villagers from Budah community in the same local government, who were kidnapped on Monday, have returned home.

A resident of Tla, Benjamin Yuhana, said they returned home without paying any ransom to the bandits because they (bandits) only asked them to return home, but said there were still other residents in their custody.

The Public Relations Officer of the state police command, ASP Mansir Hassan, couldn’t be reached by phone and did not respond to a text message sent to him via WhatsApp about the latest kidnapping.
