The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has passed out 46 newly recruited personnel after six months of training.
Speaking during the Passing Out Parade, the Commandant of the Edo Command, Gbenga Agun, charged the 2023 intakes on diligence in the discharge of their duties.
He applauded the civil defenders in the state for being at the forefront during the disasters in the state in 2023.
He identified floods, which displaced several communities in the state, Ologbo tanker fire incident and the Lassa fever outbreak as those emergencies where the officers played active roles.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Edo command to reducing the risks of disasters and their impact throughout the state.

Also speaking, Gov. Godwin Obaseki, represented by the state Commissioner of Public Security and Safety, Mr Kingsley Uwagbale said the state Government would partner with the corps on training and capacity building for the state Security Network popularly as vigilantes.
