Police operatives in Benue State have apprehended four suspected kidnappers in connection with the abduction of a school boy and a civil defence personnel.
Our correspondent reports that while the school boy was rescued alive, the civil defence personnel was killed and buried in a shallow grave.
The Commissioner of Police (CP), Emmanuel Adesina, said the arrest of the suspects, alongside eight others for various crimes, was effected within the past three weeks.
He said, “On February 21, 2024, at about 1530 hours, information was received that one George Aondosoo Ayua of Asase 1, North Bank, Makurdi, was nowhere to be found after school hours and his kidnappers were already asking for N6m. Men of Operation Zenda Joint Task Force were deployed to rescue the victim and arrest the suspects.

“A diligent trail of the suspects led the team to a hideout in Abua village, KM 16 Gboko Road, Makurdi, where the victim was held hostage by his captors. Victim was rescued unhurt while two members of the gang, Ayua Moses and Azua Samson, were arrested. Investigation is ongoing to arrest other suspects at large.’’
