A Magistrates’ Court in Ilọrin, the Kwara State capital, has ordered the remand of five suspects over alleged cultism among other accusations.
The suspects are Idris Babatunde (tailor), Ismaila Ayomide (butcher), Opeyemi Oladipupe (applicant), Adebaya Abdulgafar (driver) and Dauda Sadiq.
According to the police, they were arrested following a report that they were seen with guns and other weapons at their hide-out in Obbo road/station and Taiwo Isale areas while “planning an attack on innocent citizens in Ilọrin.
“One locally made double barrel pistol with one live cartridge were recovered while others escaped and are still at large,” FIR said.

Defence lawyer, Olu Ajiboye, urged the court to grant them bail, a prayer that was opposed by Prosecutor Foluke Makose.
Magistrate Sunday Adeniyi in his ruling remanded the suspects pending agreed date for the adjournment.
