Edo: Another gov’ship aspirant demands certificate of return

One of the three candidates who emerged at last Saturday’s governorship parallel primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has filed an appeal to the party’s appeals committee asking it to issue him a certificate of return.

The senator, representing Edo Central in the National Assembly, in the letter addressed to the appeal panel said he won the primary poll, stressing that the results announced by Governor Hope Uzodimma, who was chairman of the APC primary election committee, were not a true reflection of what happened, as confirmed by the returning officer.

Recall that Okpebholo was declared winner of the primary by the Returning Officer for the election, Dr Stanley Ugboaja, at the residence of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

He said contrary to claims by Governor Uzodimma who said that Dennis Idahosa won the contest by 40,000 votes, only 24,000 members of the party were accredited to vote during the exercise.
