The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have clashed over the upgrade of a health facility in the state.
The opposition on Saturday hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the decision to include Harmony Advanced Diagnostic Centre, Ilorin, among the health facilities slated for upgrading across the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria.
The party, which described the centre as a legacy project of the PDP government in Kwara State, said the decision was coming despite persistent attempts by the APC government to undermine all projects initiated by the Saraki/PDP administration.
“This action by the federal government further vindicates the PDP regime. It underscores our commitment to establishing institutions for the progress of Kwara before Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s administration sets the state on a backward trajectory since his inception in 2019.” the party’s Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Adewa, said in a statement.
But in a telephone chat with our correspondent on Saturday, the state APC chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, said the PDP still appears to be in the illusion of coming back to power.
“How many of the PDP projects did the president point to and if not for the efforts of the governor to bring it to the attention of the president apart from what he also has spent on it, how would he have known?” he asked.
