Mrs Dorcas Ojo, a grandmother of three of the pupils kidnapped in Ekiti State recently, said she had planned to commit suicide if her three grandchildren were not released by their abductors.

The pupils and the teachers were freed after payment of ransom but the driver was killed.

Mrs Ojo said she had already bought a product having the capacity to terminate her life if her three abducted grandchildren were not freed by their abductors.

She disclosed this on Sunday while speaking with newsmen at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH) after the pupils had undergone treatment and were allowed to go back home.

Narrating the ordeal that the abductees were made to pass through, Mrs Ojo said, “The abductors made the children undergo what their parents had never experienced.

“They (children) were traumatised by the kidnappers as they were forced to trek long distances in the bush, not staying in one location, and also not given food to eat during the seven days they were in captivity.

“They were saved by God the Almighty through the prayers of the people.”

The state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr Oyebanji Filani, said the children were released to their parents after undergoing proper treatment by various teams of doctors at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital.
