Governor Nasir Idris has promised to promote cultural festivities in Kebbi State to sustain peace, unity and brotherliness amongst its people.
The governor made this known at the launching of a book titled: “History of Yauri Kingdom from 1411 to 2014” held at the Emir’s palace Yauri in Kebbi State.
The launching of the book was part of activities lined up for the 2024 Rigata Cultural Festival.
The governor observed that cultural festivals remained the pathways for promoting culture and tradition, apart from strengthening bonds of relationships amongst people of divergent interests and beliefs.
Earlier, the Emir of Yauri, Dr Muhammad Zayyanu-Abdullahi said the kingdom derived its name from the fifth ruler named Yawuri (1505-1538), recalling that his rule made it rich and popular.
He described the presence of different personalities at the launch as a sign of honour to the emirate and appreciated them for finding time to make the occasion colourful.
