A Chief Magistrate Court in Kano on Friday sentenced two suspects charged with adultery to one-year imprisonment each.
Chief Magistrate Fauziyya Isa Sheshe sentenced the defendants, Aliyu Yakubu, 24 and Aisha Sani,19, to one-year imprisonment each.
The court sentenced them to 10 months in a Correctional Centre or pay a fine of N100,000 for conspiracy after they pleaded guilty.
She also sentenced the defendants to two months imprisonment without the option of fine for adultery.

The defendants, who live at Sauna and Hotoro Yandodo Quarters Kano, were convicted on a two-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy and adultery.
Chief Magistrate Fauziyya Isa Sheshe also sentenced Abdulmalik Ibrahim and Ummukulsum Yakubu to 16 months imprisonment for an attempt to commit abortion.
The defendants were convicted on three-count charges of criminal conspiracy, concealment of birth and abetment.
The Prosecutor, Khadija Aliyu, told the court that the defendants with two others: Dominic Offor and Nkechi Okechukwu criminally conspired among themselves and attempted to conceal Aisha’s pregnancy sometime in 2023.
She adjourned the matter until February 29 for a hearing.
