A group, Concerned Northern Frontier, has kicked against what it called the cancellation of projects approved by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari and their subsequent re-award.
The group, led by its Convener, Mohammed Bassa, said this at a press briefing in Abuja.
He noted that the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, had initiated a committee to review policies implemented by his predecessor.
His words: “We have observed the activities of some persons under President Tinubu’s government, signalling trouble ahead for the regime with their actions against the people and most policies of the former government.
“The cancellation of approvals granted by former ministers upon leaving office indicates a clear hostility against the previous administration. The group perceives these actions as unnecessary power struggles that may not align with the President’s intentions.
“We demand to know how much he has collected since assuming office and how he utilized the funds allocated to the ministry. Additionally, we seek clarity on the real intentions behind the committees set up to review agencies under him.
“ These reviews might be part of a privatization agenda that could negatively impact the Federal Mortgage Bank and Federal Housing Estates. We call on the National Assembly to exercise its oversight function and thoroughly investigate the reasons behind the revocation of old contracts and their subsequent re-awarding.”
While reacting to the allegation, the Special Assistant to the Minister of Housing, Mark Chiesel said it is not true.
“It’s not true. It’s a baseless allegation. The Ministry is focused on delivering on the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed, Tinubu, GCFR, for the housing sector,” he said.
