A man, identified as Mansur Shafiu, has been killed by a thug as he tried to prevent a ballot box from being snatched in Rigachikun, Igabi LGA of Kaduna State at the just rerun elections.
A witness, who spoke in an interview said, “Mansur was trying to prevent them from snatching a ballot box when one of the thugs brought out a knife and stabbed him.”
It was gathered that, as early as 8am on Sunday, youths barricaded the Kaduna/Zaria road ostensibly to protest the killing of the young man.
Their action led to a gridlock on the highway, causing motorists to be stranded until the military was invited to clear the road.

A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and member House of Representatives representing Igabi federal constituency, Hussaini Jallo, confirmed the incident saying the victim was buried on Sunday morning in Rigachikun according to Islamic injunctions.
Reacting to his death, the member of the House of Representatives, Jallo, described it as unfortunate.
