The immediate past governor of Plateau, Senator Simon Lalong, has cautioned members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state against using inflammatory words to express their disappointment with the Supreme Court judgment that affirmed the election of Governor Caleb Mutfwang.
Lalong, who currently represents Plateau South Senatorial District in the Senate, urged all the party stakeholders and supporters to refrain from castigating the judiciary or making inflammatory comments for the sake of peace and stability.
He made the appeal yesterday while addressing party stakeholders at the state party headquarters in Kalwa House, Jos, the state capital.
He said it was unfortunate that some people have engaged in over-drive analysis of the Supreme Court judgement without seeing a certified true copy to be properly guided.

“The Supreme Court which has the final say in gubernatorial elections has spoken and as strong democrats who believe in the rule of law, the APC in Plateau State and Nigeria at large have accepted the verdict and refrained their supporters from castigating the judiciary or making inflammatory comments for peace and stability,” he said.
Senator Lalong, however, clarified that the party’s case at the apex court was not built around a pre-election issue, as if it was a party to the case.
“APC was never a party to the case between Hon. Kaze vs PDP or the one between PDP and PLASIEC which went up to the Supreme Court and was dismissed against PDP.
“I want you to know that APC merely used the judgement given against the PDP to file its petition as a post-election matter as provided by law,” he said.
In his remarks, the Plateau State APC chairman, Rufus Bature, assured the party faithful that its 15 House of Assembly members would be sworn in as there is no court order barring their inauguration as it is being peddled.
Those in attendance at the meeting included the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Nentawe Yilwatda Goshewe and his running mate Pam Bot-Mang, former Deputy Governor Sonni Tyoden and APC Deputy National Secretary, Festus Fuanter.
