Insecurity: Wike attends town hall meeting, vows strong action against bandits

The Minister of the  FCT, Nyesom Wike, has assured residents, especially those of Bwari Area Council, that the FCT Administration will make the territory hot for bandits and terrorists.

Wike, who on Wednesday attended a town hall meeting organised to address the incessant kidnappings in Bwari, one of the area councils mostly hit by kidnapping, acknowledged that the increased security in the North East had made the area unsettled for criminals, hence their relocation, but maintained that the FCT with the help of security agencies would make Bwari Area Council and the FCT in totality unconducive for criminal activities.

The minister noted that the informants of the bandits who were living among the people would soon feel the wrath of the security agencies, saying the informants would no longer sleep.

He assured of every needed support to the security agencies and the area council, saying such a meeting would go round the other area councils.

The minister, while soliciting all stakeholders’ support to get rid of bandits’ activities in the FCT, urged Nigerians not to solicit money for ransom, saying such would embolden the criminals to do more. Wike also implored the media to support the security drive of the present administration.

He pleaded with the traditional institution to assist the security agencies with the right information to tackle the bandits.

While delivering President Bola Tinubu’s heartfelt solidarity message,  Wike told the Bwari Area Council residents that the president had given him a matching order to provide all necessary support to all security agencies, saying his administration would also support the council with vehicles, among other logistics.

He asked the locals to also give out credible information where necessary to help the security agencies.
