The President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Nigeria and Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has urged Muslims to look for the new moon of Dhul Hajj 1438 AH from today.
Muslims all over the world celebrate Eid al-Adha on 10th Dhul Hajj.
The Sultan stated, “This is to inform the Muslim Ummah that Tuesday August 22, which is equivalent to 29th day of Dhul Qidah 1438AH, shall be the day to look for the new moon of Dhul Hajj. “
This was contained in a statement by the Chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council, Sokoto, Professor Sambo Junaidu.
The statement added that the sighting of the moon should be reported to the nearest district or village Head for onward communication to the Sultan.
