2023: 100 killed, 536 injured in Edo auto crashes

The Edo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Paul Okpe, has disclosed that 100 people died, 536 others got injured in 194 accidents across the state in 2023.

He noted that there was an improvement in the 2023 casualties when compared to 2022 in which 140 persons died in 257 accidents across the state.

He attributed the accidents to brake failure, over-speed, driving against traffic, drunk driving, use of phone, among other violations.

While calling on motorists to adhere to traffic rules and regulations, he said that once road users imbibed the culture of safety on the road “we are going to have a reduction in accidents.”
