Councillors Withdraw Impeachment Letter Against Numan LG Chair

Ten councillors from Numan local government council who signed an impeachment letter against Council Chairman, Pharmacy Christopher Sofore, have backed out.

The legislative arm had accused Sofore of financial misappropriation and maladministration, which they claimed were contrary to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s people-oriented, transparent, and accountable governance.

However, two days after serving the impeachment letter, the councillors are now set to retract their accusations due to the intervention of critical stakeholders in the local government, who have urged the aggrieved councillors to halt their impeachment move.

During a press briefing in the Adamawa State capital, Yola, the leader of the council and councillor representing Imburu ward, Nzashi Linus Tonmunongbaso, attributed the earlier impeachment move to a communication gap between the executive and legislative arms of the local government.

He commended the intervention of key stakeholders in Numan’s local government and assured the public that the issue had been put to rest.

Tonmunongbaso reiterated the commitment of the legislative arm to maintaining a peaceful atmosphere in the area while working towards the interest and development of the Numan local government and the state as a whole.
