Benue enforces recovery of 33-room asset

The Benue State Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC) has enforced the recovery of a 33-room building earlier recovered by the Economic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) for the establishment.

Our correspondent reports that the EFCC recovered the building for the company in 2019 but not enforced.

Managing Director of BIPC, Raymond Asemakaha, who led the recovery team after inspection of the ongoing construction work at the BIPC Fountain Estate Nyorgyungu in Makurdi, also decried the inability of the contractor to complete the project after collecting the whole contract sum.

Asemakaha lamented how despite posting a N1.6 billion loses from 2019-2023; N2.1 billion unremitted VAT/TAX and 138 Million accumulated unremitted pension, NSITF and NHF, the company paid over N700 million for the project that will add no profit to the company.

The MD further wondered why some staff of the company were paid N10 million consistently on a daily basis and called on anti-graft agencies to investigate them.

He maintained that he is not out to victimise anyone but must ensure that the right thing is done.

Asemakaha, while directing security agencies to take charge of the recovered building, warned occupants to steer clear of the property.
