The leadership of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and its counterpart from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, on Tuesday, vowed to avert any unwarranted clash that may arise between the two agencies in the course of their duties.
The two anti-graft agencies made this resolution at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja, when the two chairmen, Musa Adamu Aliyu and Ola Olukoyede of ICPC and EFCC respectively held a high-level meeting about the ongoing anti-graft war.
Speaking during the meeting, Aliyu said his meeting with his counterpart in the EFCC was one of the important steps being taken by the ICPC to strengthen the nation’s fight against corruption.
Aliyu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, added that the visit was a show of commitment to the existing relationship between the two agencies, noting that it was aimed at deepening mutual cooperation and synergise efforts for greater impact in Nigeria’s anti-corruption drive.

On his part, the Chairman of the EFCC, Olukoyede explained that the meeting had presented an opportunity for the review of the existing MoU between the two agencies.
The EFCC boss stressed that President Bola Tinubu has the political will to fight corruption, as demonstrated in recent events adding that these were enough boost for anti-corruption agencies to give their best.
“We are going to give the president the right support and we believe that the courage would be there to take the right decisions. Nobody is too big to be investigated in this country. Once you are not playing to the rules, we’ll investigate you.”
