Fulani worst hit by banditry, kidnapping in FCT – Miyetti Allah

The state chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in the FCT, Alhaji Yahaya Isah, said the Fulani are the worst affected victims of banditry and kidnapping in the territory.

Speaking at the inauguration of newly elected executives of the Gwagwalada Area Council of MACBAN on Saturday, Isah said the Fulani were also victims of cattle rustling.

He said it was quite unfortunate that any kidnapping, banditry and cattle rustling incidents were always linked to the Fulani not only in the FCT but across every part of the country.

He said though there are bad eggs among the Fulani that engage in crime, many Fulani people have lost their lives as a result of attacks by bandits and kidnappers across various communities in the territory.

Isah, however, stressed on the need for farmers and herders to always find amicable ways of resolving conflicts that arose from destruction of farm produce.

“And I also want to appeal to our farmers to avoid poisoning their crops to kill cows; instead, any cow that destroys farm crops, the owner of the cow should ensure adequate compensation is done for the owner of such a farm,” he said.

The MACBAN chairman, while congratulating the Gwagwalada branch executives of MACBAN, urged them to ensure they discharge their duties with the fear of God.

City & Crime reports that 31 executive members, which have Alhaji Ibrahim Ciroma and Baba Mohammed Usman respectively as chairman and secretary were inaugurated as Gwagwalada Area Council chapter of MACBAN.
