An Imam of Masjid al-Furqan, West Cobb Islamic Center, Atlanta USA, Dr Bashir Yusuf Mundi, has called on imams and faith-based organisations to be more holistic and comprehensive in their services.
He also charged the imams and the religious organisations to be empowering institutions and inspiring the faithful, especially the youth folk.
Dr Bashir made the charge delivering a lecture at the 21st year anniversary of Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society event held yesterday in Abuja with a theme: “Religious organisations as a tool for social development: The Al-Habibiyyah Experience.”
According to him, the role of imams has to be much broader and more comprehensive than just leading prayers.
Earlier, National Chief Imam, AIS, Sheik Fuad Adeyemi said the journey of Al-Habibiyyah began 21 years ago, with a strong desire to change the narrative and make Islam more acceptable and respectable.
Highpoint of the occasion was the presentation of awards to 27 recipients for their outstanding contributions to the development of the society and Islam, including Malam Abbas Jimoh of Media Trust Group (MTG).
