Malcomines, Trappco, Nigerian Army win big at Jos tourney

The “Home of Peace & Tourism, Jos celebrated one of its grandest moments as polo patrons, players and dignitaries turned up in their droves to celebrate the noble game of kings, with home Boys, Jos Malcomines, Trappco, Nigerian Army and others standing out as the biggest winners of the weeklong fiesta.

Powered by the President of Jos Polo Club, Murtala Laushi, Malcomines warriors extend their supremacy with another emphatic victory, defeating two arch-rivals, Fifth Chukkers and Keffi Ponys in a blistering campaign to clinch the event’s biggest prize, the Governor Cup, to cap a glorious year of victories.

Laushi led Asharaf Yahaya, Fernando Munas and Aliero Aramburo to sweep past arch-rivals to crown a glorious year of victories that started with the Emir of Kano Cup in Kano, the African Patrons Cup in Kaduna, stretching to Yola, Keffi and finally extended their supremacy as the Kings Jos polo before their home fans on Sunday.

The prestigious Jos Winter polo festival lived up to the billing as the Nigerian Army team outpaced the hard-fighting Kano opponents to clinch the glittering President’s Cup for the second year running, just as the Police team finished tops in the race for the coveted NASCO Cup.

Other top winners of the glamorous year-ending festival that attracted over forty teams include former champions Kaduna Trappco who returned to winning ways by carting home the Imani Cup. At the same time, Senator Ahmed Wadada let out the loudest roar lifting the Unity Cup with his Keffi Pony team.
