Osaigbovo Iguobaro, the Chief Press Secretary to Oba of Benin, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, has made clarification over the person of Prince Isah Ado-Bayero, who joined the Oba in the December 31 church crossover.
Iguobaro said Prince Isah is the son of late Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, and not that of the current Emir, Alhaji Aminu Ado-Bayero, as earlier stated.
The CPS had in a statement on Monday said Oba of Benin observed Gregorian Calendar year at the Holy Aruosa Cathedral in Benin City where he earlier celebrated the traditional Igue festival Thanksgiving service on Sunday December 31, 2023.
“Holy Aruosa Cathedral had an unusual guest Prince Isah Ado-Bayero, the son of Kano Emir, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Aminu Ado-Bayero.

“The presence of the Muslim, that observes the annual hijrah Calendar, amazed worshippers in Holy Aruosa church also know as the Edo National church at the end of Igue festival.
“Oba Ewuare II Queens and his Quadruplets he had with Oloi Aisosa Ewuare II, attended the service where they had their moments of fun in the church,” the statement read in part.
Daily Trust had reached out to the palace after PR Nigeria fact-checked the statement and found that the prince was not the son of the current Emir.
Speaking to Daily Trust on Wednesday, Iguobaro clarified that Isah is actually the son of the late Emir.
“He was only introduced [at the church] as the son of Emir of Kano, without stating whether he is the son of the present or late Emir,” he said.
