Bandits place N300m ransom on 13 captives in FCT

Bandits have placed N300 million as ransom on 13 kidnapped victims at Kurudu Extension in Bwari Area Council of the FCT.

City & crime had reported that bandits, last week, invaded Kuduru Extension and the neighboring Azu village in Niger State and kidnapped 13 people.

The Madaki of Kuduru, Kure Zaphaniya, while speaking with our reporter on Sunday, through telephone, confirmed the ransom demand by the bandits.

He said 13 people including four children were kidnapped when bandits invaded Kuduru Extension last Wednesday, amid sporadic shooting in the area.

“From my own community which is Kuduru Extension, 13 people including four children were abducted by bandits. And the next day, the bandits’ leader called through a phone of one of the victims and demanded N300 million as a condition for the release of the victims,” he said.

He said negotiation was still ongoing, even as he commended some army personnel for their quick response to a distress call during the bandits’ attack in the community.

The spokeswoman of the FCT Police Command, SP Adeh Josephine, is yet to reply to a text message sent to her phone to confirm the ransom demand as at the time of filing the report on Sunday.
