Scholars converge on Kwara for Islamic jurisprudence book launch

Renowned Islamic scholars have converged on Ilọrin, the Kwara State capital, for the launch of a book titled “Kitab al-Fiqh Al-Muyassar” (Islamic Jurisprudence Simplified).

Authored by Sheikh Muhammad Sahibul Qur’an, Kitab al-Fiqh Al-Muyassar, was supported by a Kuwaiti national, and published in Cairo, Egypt.

The publication’s chapters are composed entirely in symmetric Arabic poetry and have been described as an exceptional literary work that has garnered global recognition.

Some of the dignitaries that graced the occasion included Dr Musa Alongbija from Oyo State who represented the UN-affiliate in Nigeria; Grand Mufti of Ilorin, Sheik Sulaiman Faruq Onikijipa; Engr Kale Kawu; former NBC boss, Dr. Ishaq Modibbo Kawu; former Grand Kadi of Kwara State, Justice Idris Haroon and Grand Khadi, Kwara State Sharia Court of Appeal, Justice Abdullateef Kamaldeen among others. 

Representatives from the International Association of World Peace Advocates in Kano and Kaduna states also graced the occasion.

Speaking during the event, the chief launcher, Professor Ali Ahmad, described the book as an exceptional Islamic work, recognised globally for its standard.

“This book stands as a pointer to the global standard of Islamic jurisprudence and should be celebrated and shared on an international scale.

“By supporting its launch, we aim to contribute to the realisation of a vision where this significant piece of literature becomes readily available to individuals seeking knowledge and understanding worldwide,” he added.

The book reviewer and Grand Khadi of the Kwara State Sharia Court of Appeal, Justice Abdulateef Kamaldeen, praised the “world-class erudition” exhibited in compiling the book, describing it as a rare achievement.

He offered to undertake the translation of the book into English, with plans to publish it promptly in Nigeria.
