Bandits shot and injured three persons while abducting two others on Christmas eve at Tokulo village in Kawu ward of Bwari Area Council of the FCT.

City & crime reliably gathered that the bandits earlier attacked Garam village, some few kilometres away from Bwari and abducted four villagers in the area.

A resident of Tokulo, Josiah Daniel, said the incident happened on the eve of Xmas around 12;13 am, when the bandits wielding sophisticated weapons invaded a house in the community and whisked away  victims.

“In fact, all the residents of Tokulo community were terrified by sporadic gunshots by the bandits when they invaded the community. And as I speak, three people that sustained gunshots are at the hospital in Bwari,” he said.

Another resident of Garam village, which is some few kilometres away from Bwari, Danjuma Lucky, also confirmed an attack by the bandits who invaded the community last week.

Danjuma said the bandits killed one person and abducted four villagers, after they invaded two houses in the community shooting sporadically.

He said one of the villagers identified as Jonathan was shot dead during an attack by the bandits, even as he said the abductors of the victims were yet to contact the families of the victims.

He said the remains of the deceased have been buried by his relations in the community.

Meanwhile, a top civil servant in the Garam community, who preferred anonymity, lamented over worsening insecurity across Bwari communities.

He said bandits mostly come from Kaduna villages and abduct their victims at will and move them to their hideouts in a forest in Kagarko LGA of Kaduna State.

He, however, berated the authorities of the council under the leadership of John Gabaya for not giving priority to security of lives and property of people of the council, especially rural dwellers that are being kidnapped on a weekly basis.

“As I speak, the chairman of Bwari has been out of the country for almost two weeks now with his family, while his people are being kidnapped. I beg you to go and make your enquiry, which is quite unfortunate, “ he said.

When contacted, the spokeswoman of the FCT Police Command, SP Adeh Josephine, did not pick calls or reply to a text message sent to her phone as at the time of filing the report.
