Road accidents in Kaduna and Ogun states have claimed six lives and injured 65 persons.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kaduna Sector Command, says four persons died and 59 others sustained injuries in a road crash on the Kaduna-Abuja expressway.
The Sector Commander, Mr Kabir Nadabo, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna that the road traffic crash occurred at Sabon Sara village along the expressway on Tuesday.
Nadabo said the tragic accident which occurred around 03:30am involved a trailer (Iveco) with registration number MKA 99YS.
He said the initial investigation revealed that the cause of the crash was overloading of goods and humans as well as fatigue.
He said the injured had been conveyed to St. Gerard and AP Smart Hospitals, all in Kakuri.
He added that concerted efforts had resulted in the arrest of the trailer driver involved in this crash.
Similarly, two persons died on Tuesday while six others sustained injuries in the Boxing Day accident along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
It was gathered that the lone accident, involving a Toyota Hiace bus marked ACA 607 XT, occurred at Car Park C turning on the highway.
The spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, Florence Okpe, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta on Tuesday.
She said the lone crash was caused by speeding and loss of control.
She said that a total of eight men were involved, six were injured and two persons were recorded dead.
“The injured victims were taken to Famobis Hospital, Mowe, while the deceased were deposited at the same hospital morgue,” she said.
