Nasarawa Poly suspends 7 students for displaying ‘immoral pictures’ on social media

Isah Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic (IMAP), Nasarawa State, has suspended seven students of the institution for allegedly displaying immoral pictures on social media during a graduation celebration.

In a statement on Saturday by the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mr. Ali Hassan Mohammed, the affected students are to resume during 2023/2024 academic session with letters of undertaking from their guardians to be of good behaviour.

The statement reads in part, “Recall that recently seven female Students of the Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic, Lafia, were alleged to have celebrated their graduation by displaying immoral pictures on social media portraying the institution in bad light in the name of after graduation sign out.”

“The Academic Board of the institution has approved the rustication of the said seven students for one academic session at its meeting of Wednesday, October 4, 2023, held at the institution for their involvement in display of indecency and tarnishing the good reputation of the institution.

The affected students are Precious Sunday Reg. No. IMAP/SST/HMT/21/22/0055, Dorathy Iortyer Reg. No. IMAP/SST/HMT/21/22/0045, Sonia Terna Reg. No. IMAP/SCT/MAC/21/22/0451and Maureen Nenmo Reg. No. IMAP/SCT/MAC/21/22/0472

Others are Maureen Shitile IMAP/SCT/MAC/22/23/ 0468, Atov Hope Yandoo Reg. No. IMAP/SCT/MAC/21/22/23/0466 and Joyce Aonrnenge Lembar Reg. No. IMAP/SST/SLT/21/22/0561respwctively.

The Rector of the polytechnic, Dr. Justina Anjiode Kotso, warned all the students to shun any form of social vices and anything capable of putting them into trouble, retierating that the management would not compromise standards and academic excellence.
