The Chairman of Media Trust Group (MTG), Malam Kabiru A. Yusuf, Friday in Abuja gave out his daughter, Dr Fatima Kabiru Yusuf in marriage to Barr. Muhammad Bilya Bala, who is son to Malam Bilya Bala, one of the shareholders of MTG and Chairman of Daily Trust Foundation, a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of the company.
The well attended wedding Fatiha, which was held at Annur Mosque, Abuja, attracted dignitaries from all walks of life, including former ministers, media executives and captains of industry, clerics, former presidential aides and well-wishers.
Fatima, a medical doctor, is the first daughter of the chairman of MTG, publisher of Daily Trust titles and owner of Trust TV and Radio, while the groom is equally the first son of Malam Bala.
Senator Umar Ibrahim Kurfi, who served as the surety of the bridegroom, formally accepted the nuptial from Yusuf Magaji, who stood as the wali (bride’s guarantor), after collecting N100,000 as dowry from the surety of Muhammad.

The wedding Fatiha was solemnised by the secretary of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Professor Sheikh Khalid Aliyu.
Among dignitaries that graced the ceremony were the immediate past governor of Bauchi State, Mohammed Abubakar, former Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Professor Ibrahim Isa Ali Pantami, spokesperson of former President Muhammadu Buhari, Malam Garba Shehu, among others.
Directors and management staff of MTG also graced the occasion.
Daily Trust Saturday reports that dignitaries were later hosted to a wedding reception after the solemnisation at the mosque.
Speaking on the occasion, Pantami prayed for peace and tranquility between the husband and wife and urged them to respect each other and live their lives in accordance with Islamic injunctions.
He also prayed for the release of the abducted female students of the Federal University, Gusau, Zamfara State and Federal University, Dutsinma (FUDMA) in Katsina State.
He said it was devastating for the parents of the victims who were female.
Pantami said, “Any father whose daughter is held hostage is definitively in agony as it might be more painful when a daughter is held hostage by criminals than a male child. They have been abducted for over 90 days. May Allah protect their chastity, faith and lives and reunite them with their families soon.’’
He equally bemoaned the atrocities being perpetrated on Palestinians, especially in the Gaza Strip, describing it as a disturbing humanitarian catastrophe.
