The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday screened a business mogul, Ifeanyi Patrick Ubah and a former minister of aviation, Stella Oduah, who are contesting its ticket for the November 18, 2017 governorship election in Anambra State.
The party also screened Mr. Alex Obiogolu, Oseloka Henry Obaze, Prince John Okechukwu Emeka, Akolisa Ufodike and Lynda Chuba Ikpeazu.
However, the appearance of Ubah at the PDP secretariat generated controversy, considering that he left the Labour Party (LP) and was said to be a card carrying member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
After the screening, Ubah declined to speak with journalists and zoomed off.
Addressing the aspirants and newsmen earlier, the chairman of the screening committee and former minister of Police Affairs, Adamu Maina Waziri, said there was a petition against one of the seven aspirants, but declined to mention the name.
He, however, appealed to all the aspirants to support whoever emerged as the party’s candidate, saying, “every one of us has something to lose if we lost the Anambra election.”
