Katsina fleeing inmate arrested in Kaduna

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NcoS), Katsina State Command, says security operatives have arrested the second inmate who escaped from its facility in October.

A statement issued by the public relations officer of the command, ASC Najibullah Idris, on Wednesday, said the inmate was arrested in Kaduna metropolis on Tuesday.

Recall that two inmates of the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Katsina (Old), awaiting trial escaped from custody on October 17, 2023.

However, a search party put together in collaboration with other security agencies was able to arrest one of the fugitives, Ibrahim Muhammad Lawal, alias Abba Kala.

In the statement, ASC Idris said in order to recapture the remaining other, the service deployed its e-tracking mechanism as well as overt and covert intelligence gathering on the second escapee, Musa Isah, on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, in Kaduna metropolis.

“It is on this note that the Nigerian Correctional Service, Katsina State Command, wishes to inform the general public that there is no cause for alarm as both escapees are now in custody.

“The Controller General of Corrections, Haliru Nababa, through the Controller of Corrections, Katsina State Command, Muhammad Abdulmumin Haruna, appreciates the effort of the search team and further assures the public of our continuous resolve to secure all custodial centres,” the statement added.
