Exemption from IPPIS will enable universities to operate efficiently – VC

The vice-chancellor of the Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), Prof Abayomi Fasina, has said the exit of tertiary institutions from the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) will enable them to operate efficiently.

Fasina stated this while receiving an award of excellence from the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ekiti State Council.

He said exempting tertiary educational institutions would ease the administrative burden faced by the universities as well as remove the bureaucratic bottlenecks brought by the payroll platform in the area of recruitment and promotion of staff.

Fasina explained that the introduction of IPPIS contributed to the problems faced by universities in the country because it eroded their autonomy as well as failed to accommodate the peculiarities of university administration.
