Rivers elders won’t intervene in Wike-Fubara crisis – Minister’s Ex-aide

This is becoming amid a veiled feud between Fubara and Wike which has plunged Rivers State into political turmoil.

The crisis escalated with the impeachment attempt against Fubara, prompting loyalists to protest.

Defections of the 27 lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a court order restraining the removal of the Speaker further fuelled the crisis.

In response, Edison Ehie, the factional Speaker of the Assembly, declared the seats of the defectors vacant.

The political crisis worsened on Wednesday as about bulldozers drove into the premises of the state House of Assembly and started demolishing the complex.
