Kwara PDP expels youth leader

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has finally expelled its suspended youth leader, Haliru Mahmud Dantsoho from the party.

Recall that Dantsoho’s trouble started after he demanded accountability over the spending of the 2023 presidential campaign fund from the Dr Bukola Saraki-led leadership of the party in the state.

And while he was “suspended” based on the recommendation of the disciplinary committee of August 16 ratified by the State Working Committee, the party’s national executive “set aside and overruled” the state chapter on the suspension.

But after threatening to sue the party over an apology letter to Saraki, which he said did not emanate from him, his expulsion was announced in a letter dated December 11 and signed by the Kaiama ward chairman of the party, Mohammed Nurudeen and 16 other ward executive members.

According to the letter, Dantsoho was “Expelled for gross misconduct arising from raising unsubstantiated allegations against the leadership of the party through videos he circulated in the social media” after his initial “suspension”.

The party said the action was necessitated by his refusal to appear before the disciplinary committee set up to look into the matter.

But reacting to his expulsion, Dantsoho told Daily Trust on Monday that he had already sent his resignation letter to the party before the expulsion was slammed on him.

“They wrote to me around 3:45pm on Sunday giving me 48 hours to appear before the disciplinary committee. But it is not even 24 hours yet before they are saying I have been expelled. In any case, I had already sent my resignation letter from the party this morning”, he added.
