The Ogun State Government has announced a reward of N50m for any information that could lead to the arrest of the killers of Mr. Taiwo Oyekanmi, the Director of Finance and Administration attached to Governor Dapo Abiodun’s office.
The Secretary to the State Government, Mr Tokunbo Talabi, announced the reward in a statement in Abeokuta on Friday. The statement noted that information provided would be treated with utmost confidentiality.
Suspected armed robbers on November 29 shot dead Oyekanmi and carted away government funds from the vehicle.
Oyekanmi had withdrawn an undisclosed amount of money from a branch of Fidelity Bank in Abeokuta, the state capital, and was heading back to the office when he was ambushed by the gunmen.

It was gathered that about five gunmen shot the accountant dead at Kuto Bridge in Abeokuta and went away with the government’s money.
Oyekanmi and other aides who sustained gunshot injuries during the attacks were rushed to the State General Hospital in Ijaye, where the accountant later died.
The governor had visited the late accountant’s family, where he promised that the culprits would be brought to book.
He had said after the condolence visit, “I firmly believe that it is our duty to take complete responsibility for the welfare and well-being of the family he left behind.
“Rest assured we will spare no effort in our quest to bring these criminals to justice. Every possible avenue will be explored and no stone will be left unturned until the perpetrators of this heinous crime are apprehended and dealt with accordingly. Together, we shall overcome this tragedy and strive to ensure a safer and more secure future for our state. May God Almighty rest his precious soul. Amen.”
