A 32-year-old man, David Abraham Eniefiok, who had his right hand shattered while trying to get rid of an explosive at the burial of the late King of Kalabari kingdom in Rivers State, Professor Theophilus Princewill, has gotten a lifeline.
Prince Tonye Princewill, the son of the deceased monarch has agreed to offset his medical bills.
The victim sustained a severe injury on his right hand after he tried to get rid of a cannon shot that erroneously landed on a speed boat during the funeral rites of the late monarch at the Abonnema Wharf.
Prince Tonye, who visited the victim on Wednesday at a hospital in Port Harcourt where he is receiving treatment, described Eniefiok as a hero who averted what would have led to an even more terrible incident.

“We are very proud of him. He was prepared to sacrifice himself to save many people and our job is to make sure that we make sacrifices to save him and do our bit to try to make sure that he can get back the use of his hand,” he said.
He assured the victim that three parties including Alhaji Asari Dokubo, the Health Subcommittee, and himself have all offered to foot the medical bill.
