The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Aliko Dangote Foundation has raised the alarm that measles, diphtheria and other diseases are killing children across Yobe State.
The head of the foundations’ office in Damaturu, Yobe State, Dr. Usman Matazu, disclosed this at a meeting with traditional leaders on Primary Healthcare Services in Yobe.
‘‘I want to tell his Excellency that despite your commitments in the health sector, your children are still dying. ‘They are dying as a result of measles, as a result of diphtheria,” Dr Matazu told Governor Mai Mala Buni at the meeting.
“I think we must tell you this sincere advice because we know you want to hear this so that you improve more.”

Mr Matazu appealed to Governor Buni to provide more funding for emergency referral and response.
In his remark, Governor Buni assured that the state government would continue to do more to ensure sustained support for the improvement of primary healthcare services in the state.
