PFN President Cautions Students On Promiscuity, Cultism

The National President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Francis Wale Oke, has warned students at Precious Cornerstone University, Ibadan, Oyo State, to steer clear of promiscuity and Cultism.

He also tasked the new management team of the university on academic excellence and spiritual soundness.

The bishop, who is the university’s Chancellor, gave the advice during the unveiling of Professor Timothy Olubisi Adejumo as the second VC of the faith-based university following the expiration of the tenure of the pioneer VC, Prof. Julius Oloke.

He said: “We want academic excellence with a spiritual foundation for the future. Without the spiritual foundation I would have been a tout and one of those troubling the nation. Spiritual foundation is key.

“The two pillars on which the university is standing are academic excellence and spiritual soundness.”

Oke, who is also the General Overseer of Sword of The Spirit Ministries International, emphasized that the university would continue to uphold the best academic standards and high spiritual soundness, saying it has zero tolerance for promiscuity and cultism.

He said: “There is zero tolerance for promiscuity and cultism. If it is only 10 students we have and meet our standards and that of God we are satisfied’’.

He admonished the new VC to seek ideas of others in other to move the institution forward just as he assured him that nobody can threaten his position, saying that the processes leading to his emergence was not carried out through “the back door”.

“A university is where we trade in ideas. Let us be open to ideas and open doors to ideas. We are very passionate about the university. We want to contribute to its growth,” he said.

Responding, the new VC pledged to engage all stakeholders in the institution in his commitment to building on the foundations laid by his predecessor the Board of Trustees, the Governing Council and the entire management, with a view to taking the university to greater heights.
