Gov Aliyu Proposes N270.1bn for 2024 fiscal year

Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has proposed N270.1 billion for the 2024 fiscal year.
Presenting the appropriation bill to the State House of Assembly on Friday, he explained that, N90,640,286,421:53 was for recurrent expenditure.
According to the breakdown, N172,2 billion was  for capital expenditure.
The sectoral breakdown of the budget also  confirmed that Education got the highest allocation with N42.8 billion.
It was followed by the health sector which received N31,014 billion while the sum of  N10.2 billion was voted for agriculture.
Transportation, religious affairs and water resources received N18.8 billion, N9.9 billion and N9.2 billion respectively.
Aliyu disclosed that his administration had also made adequate provisions in the budget for humanitarian services, poverty reduction, women and youths empowerment programmes among others.
“Essentially, the goal of the 2024 Budget is to ensure that the gains of this administration are consolidated and expanded. Ongoing projects must be completed while new ones must come on stream,” he said.
The appropriation bill was christened, “Budget of Hope and Resilient “which the governor said was being done in an atmosphere of both, “hope and uncertainty.
Responding, the Speaker of the House, Tukur Bala Bodinga, assured the Governor that the bill would receive speedy consideration.
This he said was to enable him continue with the good works he has so far started.
