Reps approve N61.55bn supplementary budget for FCT

The House of Representatives has approved an N61.55 billion supplementary budget for the FCT for the financial year ending December 31, 2023.

This followed the passage of the 2023 Supplementary Appropriation Bill for the FCT through the third reading at plenary yesterday.

It was also a sequel to the consideration of the report of the House Committee on FCT chaired by Hon Aliyu Betara on “a bill for an act to authorise the issue from the Federal Capital Territory Administration’s statutory revenue fund of the Federal Capital Territory Administration Account the total sum of N61, 553, 778, 260.”

Out of the total approved sum, N12.90bn is for overhead costs (recurrent expenditure) while the balance of N48.65bn is for capital projects.

From the overhead costs, the FCT Administration was allocated N2.2bn, the FCT Human Resources Management Department N3.3bn, the Department of Information and Communication N2.8bn, and the Legal Secretariat N1bn.

Others are the Facilities Maintenance and Management Department N1.6bn, the Abuja Environmental Protection Board N1.5bn, and the Satellite Towns Development Department N500m.

For the capital expenditure, Engineering Services (FCDA) was appropriated N30.54bn; Public Buildings (FCDA) N15.11bn and Bus Rapid Transit and Transport Regulations (BRT&TR) N3bn.
