Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested eight suspected kidnappers after they allegedly collected N2 million from a female victim.
The command’s spokesman, DSP Bright Edafe, who disclosed this to newsmen, said the suspects abducted the female victim on Shell Road in Sapele while she was driving in her ML-350 Mercedes Benz.
He said the arrest of the syndicate’s gang leader, Morrison Godwin, at Okpara Water Side in Amukpe area of Ethiope East LGA by the operatives of DECOY Squad led to the arrest of the other gang members.
He said Raymond Etchie, one of the arrested suspects, negotiated and received the said ransom from the victim.

He listed the other arrested suspects as Felix Okoro, the syndicate’s operational driver; Oghene Ogaga Sylvester, who guarded the victim; Henry Edeki; Ominike Sunday; Jerusalem Sunday and Theophilus Akpofi.
The command’s image maker explained that the victim was abducted alongside her vehicle but that the suspects abandoned the vehicle when it ran out of fuel, noting that the vehicle was recovered in Oghara town and that all the suspects confessed to the crime.
