The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) on Wednesday disclosed that it has acquired two units of 80 Bollard Pull Tugs to support operations at Dangote Refinery ahead of the commencement of operations in December 2023.
It said the tug boats will also support operations at the Pinnacle Oil.
Barring any last minute change in plans, the 650,000 barrel-per-day Dangote refinery is expected to commence operations with up to six cargoes of crude oil to be supplied by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) next month. The supply will facilitate the refinery test runs.
Speaking yesterday at a forum organised by the Lagos Chambers of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), the Managing Director (MD) of NPA, Mr. Mohammed Bello-Koko gave a breakdown of NPA interventions across various operational areas comprising four pilotage districts.
The MD represented by Ayodele Durowaiye, General Manager, Office of the Managing Director said the two units of 80 Bollard Pull Tugs are aside the existing platforms which the authority had previously acquired to support its operations.
