Court of Appeal sacks Nasarawa speaker

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has sacked the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Ibrahim Balarabe.

A three-member panel of justices on Tuesday declared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Hon. Sa’ad Abdullahi Ibrahim (Turakin-Opanda), as the rightful winner of the election for Umaisha/Ugya State Constituency of the state.

The appellate court, however, affirmed the victory of Jacob Ajegana Kudu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), representing Naasarawa Eggon East Constituency of the Nasarawa state house of assembly election conducted in the March 18, 2023 in the state.

Daily Trust reports that the ruling dismissed the petition filed by Ibrahim Muhammed, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who was challenging the outcome of the fiercely contested election.
