The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) says it will start engaging retired officers from the service in areas of trade facilitation and other policy formulation to improve service delivery.
Comptroller General of Customs, Wale Adeniyi stated this yesterday in Abuja at the Re-union of retired and new Customs management, which had the theme “Our Customs Heroes.”
He said, “Organisations like the Central Bank of Nigeria have a tradition of inviting retired economists and financial experts to participate in research projects and policy formulation. These retirees, with their extensive experience in monetary policy and financial management, offer valuable insights that contribute to the formulation of sound economic policies.”
“By drawing parallels with these successful practices, the NCS stands to gain significantly. Applying similar principles in Customs-specific cases, particularly in areas like policy formulation, trade facilitation, and procedural enhancements, can pave the way for a more agile, informed, and forward-thinking customs operation,” Adeniyi explained.
