2023: NAPTIP rescued 1,000 victims of trafficking, GBV in Kano

The Zonal Commander of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) in Kano State, Barrister Abdullahi Shuaibu Babale, has said that the agency rescued more than 1,000 victims of human trafficking and survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in 2023.

Babale explained that the rescued victims were provided with counselling, rehabilitation and successful reintegration with their families.

Reacting to the rescue, the Permanent Secretary of the Kano State Ministry for Women Affairs, Dr Saudatu Bala, said that the state government, security agencies and other stakeholders were collaborating to curb human trafficking.

She stressed the need for collective action in combating the menace, emphasising that the government could not address the issue alone.
