The President of the National Council of Women Societies, Hajiya Lami Adamu Lau, has called on the federal government to invest in policies and strategies that will bring an end to gender-based violence in the country.

She spoke yesterday in Abuja during an event to commemorate the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence,

She said, “We recognise the critical role that investments play in preventing violence. By supporting education, awareness campaigns, community engagement, and the development of support systems, we can create an environment that fosters equality.

“The theme of this year’s event, which is “Unite! Invest to prevent violence against women and girls,” serves as a call to the federal government, private stakeholders, and community leaders to prioritize the allocation of resources and be intentional about creating gender-friendly budgets towards funding transformational interventions that address gender-based violence.”
