Ooni of Ife resolves dispute between Ijaw, Yoruba communities in Delta

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II has resolved dispute between Ijaw and Yoruba communities in Delta  State.

Daily Trust on Sunday reports that the dispute was between the Ijaw and Yoruba in Gbaramatu community in Warri South-West Local Government Area of the state.

The traditional ruler disclosed this during a condolence visit to the Delta Governor Sheriff Oborevwori at his private residence in Osubi in Okpe Local Government Area.

Ooni, who is co-chairman of the National Council of Traditional Rulers in Nigeria, said the dispute could have escalated into crisis if not resolved.

He said, “I am in your state for what I know how to do best; to ensure peaceful co-existence among the tribes of the country because from Yoruba land we have a very large population of Ijaws living together with us.

“I was in Gbaramatu to resolve certain issues that can escalate into crisis but to the glory of God as traditional rulers that we are known for settling disputes, God actually took control and we were able to resolve it.”

He lauded the governor for his outstanding accomplishments in the state and for upholding the culture and tradition of the people.
