Media Trust Group Executive Director loses sister

The Group Executive Director, Digital and Editorial of Media Trust Limited, Malam Naziru Mikailu Abubakar, has lost his elder sister, Wasila Mikailu Abubakar.

Malam Naziru, who is the deceased’s immediate younger brother, confirmed her death on Friday morning. According to him, she died in Kano on Thursday night.

Her funeral (janaza) was observed around 8am on Friday in Kano, after which she was buried in accordance with Islamic rites at Kofar Mazugal cemetery, Kano.

Wasila, a graduate of Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, was survived by five children: two daughters and three sons.

Another younger brother of the deceased, Umar Mikailu, who works with the BBC, described her death as a colossal loss.

“She played the role of a mother in the family. We will miss her. She was a peace-loving person and caring mother who was cherished by all. She lived her life in search of both western and religious knowledge. We pray that her soul rests in eternal peace,” he said.

Condolence messages have been pouring in from members of staff of Media Trust, friends and well wishers for the repose of the soul of the deceased and fortitude for the family to bear the loss.
