A vigilante, Abbas Zubairu, has been arrested in connection with the abduction of the father of the Vice Chairman of Kwali Area Council of the FCT, and six others in Yewuti village of the council.
City & Crime had reported that kidnappers in the early hours of Saturday, invaded Yewuti, hometown of a former vice chairman of the council, Alhaji Zubairu Jirbin Yewuti, and whisked away seven persons, including the father of the vice chairman.
Confirming the arrest of the vigilante, another vigilante who preferred anonymity, said he was arrested after being suspected to be a kidnappers’ informant.
He explained that the suspect usually disappeared from duty, especially when kidnappers struck, and would later appear after the kidnappers had finished their operation.

He said, “That Saturday when the kidnappers invaded Yewuti, he was nowhere to be found until after the kidnappers finished their operation and whisked away their victims before he appeared on Monday.
“Our leader had been suspecting him because the same thing happened when kidnappers invaded Yewuti in April, he was nowhere until after their operation when he later appeared.”
He further said, “He later confessed and said he was not the only person that gave information to kidnappers. He has been handed over to security agents.”
There was no response from the spokeswoman of the FCT Police Command, SP Adeh Josephine, on the arrest.
