Soldiers have arrested three suspected bandits’ informants who were on an errand at a checkpoint a few metres away from Kagarko town, headquarters of Kagarko LGA of Kaduna State.
A resident of Kagarko, Mu’azu Abdullahi, told our reporter on Wednesday that the suspects were arrested on Monday, around 6pm.
He explained that, “The three of them were on top of a motorcycle when the soldiers at the checkpoint became suspicious, and during a search, a bag containing Indian hemp and an undisclosed amount money was found on one of the suspects.”
He said the suspects later confessed during interrogation amid beating that they were sent on an errand by bandits to buy Indian hemp, drugs and wine for them.
Meanwhile, the abductors of 19 residents, including three children of a pastor, in Kudiri village in the area have asked families and relations of the victims to raise N800,000 each before they will be set free.
A family member of one of the victims, Kabiru Alhassan, who spoke with our reporter on Wednesday, said the demand was despite the community contributing N550,000 to buy foodstuff, drugs and wine for the bandits.
There was no response from the spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command on the arrest.
